Gache Gache Lodge

Gache Gache is located on the Gache Gache Estuary in the Eastern Basin of Lake Kariba and lies approximately 3 km upstream of the lake. The Lodge has open plan rooms built under thatch. The rooms are built of handmade sandstone bricks made by the local people. The main lodge area is made up of a dining room capable of seating 26 people, a lounge, and a semi circular bar area accommodating 12 people comfortably. The Lodge has a reputation for its unusual architecture. The upstairs has a small loft type sun lounge. Accommodation consists of 10 ethnic en suite chalets (showers, hand basin and toilet), 7 of these have twin (3/4) beds and 2 have standard Queen size beds. 1 of the chalets is considered our ‘honeymoon’ or ‘executive’ suite. All chalets have a private verandah and a view of the lake.

Hornbill Lodge is a small intimate lodge, situated on Mica Point, Kariba. Bask in the Zimbabwe sun beside the plunge pool. Enjoy a sundowner whilst soaking up the panoramic view of Lake Kariba. Relax in the shade of indigenous trees in the beautiful landscaped garden.
Get the personal touch from the proprietors, Tommy and Jackie Millar; they will take care of all your needs. Hornbill Lodge offers very comfortable accommodation for six people in three ‘A’ frame thatch bedrooms, one double and two twins, each with en-suite facilities (shower only).
Charges include – all meals, local drinks, game viewing by boat, a short drive to the Kariba dam wall and a sundowner up at the Kariba Heights. DSTV is available.

Kariba Ferry

Save time, fuel, money, frayed nerves, over 1250Kms of driving and at least one night’s hotel stop by taking your car the length of the lake using the Kariba Car Ferry service. You and your family can relax in the spacious panoramic windowed saloon, laze in the open deck or enjoy the upper shaded deck whilst someone else does the driving.
The Voyage takes approximately 22 hours in each direction, during which time you will be served with three nourishing meals together with the morning and afternoon tea or coffee which is included in the tariff. There is a fully stocked cash bar aboard.

We can assist with all catering, menu’s, food supplies, as well as a fully stocked bar, or you can self catering. All entirely up to you!

The “Big House”

The “Big House” is a thatched house situated in Kariba, 5 minutes from the lake shore and close to the main shopping area, hotels, super tube (for the kids) and “human Watering holes”.
The area is tranquil and quiet with plenty of game around, especially Elephant and Zebra. Buffalo, Warthog, Hippo and Impala are some of the other animals seen here. Lion have been seen in the area but they are a little elusive!!!!
The house is nestled on top of a hill overlooking the lake, with stunning views. There is a very large open plan living room/dining room, air conditioned with a 42″ flat screen TV, full DSTV and wireless broadband. A large veranda leads off from the living room with a lounge area and a dining table for ‘dining with a view ‘.
Large swimming pool with outside braai area. There are 5 bedrooms, 4 are en suite and the 5th (the kids room) has its own toilet right next door, all are air conditioned, the main bedroom has a balcony. All the rooms have large square mosquito nets over each bed.
There is a fully fitted kitchen with all the necessary appliances (cooker, fridge, freezer, microwave etc) for self catering. Braai stands and cooler boxes included. All crockery, cutlery, bedding and towels are supplied.
The house has its own borehole and is secured behind an electric fence with electric gate. There is a double lock up garage and parking for at least 4 more cars. The house is serviced by domestic staff and a cook can be supplied by request at an added cost .

Bumi Hills Safari Lodge boasts one of Africa’s finest wilderness locations with an elevated position on a range of remote hills overlooking the vastness of Lake Kariba. Bumi is easily accessible by light aircraft and boat, allowing you to be swiftly transported into paradise without the stress of a long journey. You are welcomed into luxurious comfort by a team of staff that are unfailingly passionate and committed to ensuring your stay will forever be etched in a treasured part of your memory.
The lodge has a total of twenty rooms, all with views over the lake. Ten of the rooms are premium rooms with balconies and uninhibited views. The other ten are garden rooms with slated terraces, set a little way back behind and on a level above the premium rooms. All rooms are air conditioned at night and during the day upon request.
Taking centre stage is the beautiful infinity pool that seems to blend endlessly into the lake horizon. The pool is surrounded by intimate wine and dining terraces on different levels. The lodge interiors have been beautifully finished in a fusion of contemporary Western and African styles. We are situated on an extensive private wildlife conservation area. Bumi Hills is home to lion, leopard, big herds of elephant and buffalo, as well as a multitude of different plains game. We have superb fishing in the lake waters surrounding the lodge with bream and the fighting tiger fish in abundance. Birding and cultural experiences also abound.

Musango Safari Lodge

This private wilderness retreat is an island in the Matusadona National Park, on Lake Kariba, overlooking the Ume River and Matusadona Mountains. Hosts Steve and Wendy Edwards guarantee personal attention at all times. Musango is the only owner-run safari camp on the Lake. Steve, professional guide, photographer and ornithologist, will ensure guests receive nothing but the best whilst at this wildlife paradise. Maximum of 16 guests at any one time in 8 thatched units with en-suite facilities.
Activities include safari walks, game-viewing, drives, boat cruises, canoeing, cultural village visits, visits to the baby black rhino orphanage and dinosaur.

Rhino Island Safari Camp

Rhino Island Safari Camp

Is a rustic thatched Safari Camp on Stilts. Built on the Kariba Lake shore, right on the edge of Matusadona National Park.. Rhino Island Camp is a spacious lodge with each room constructed in a thatched A frame style with steps leading to the room approximately 2 meters above the ground.
A total of twelve guests can be accommodated in the six twin bedded lodges. Double beds are available if requested when booking. Views from the rooms are of the sheltered bay where hippos wallow, and the lake lies beyond. Each room has En Suite facilities with flush toilet and hand basins and the open air shower offers plenty of hot and cold running water. The thatched roofs are designed in such a way as to encourage the flow of air through the chalet, ensuring that the interiors are cool, even in the hottest months of the year. Each lodge has two three quarter beds with a side table, a wardrobe facility, dressing table and chair and comfortable sofa bench at the front of the room for relaxing and enjoying the view. Each lodge is “linked” to the central Boma by a white-brushed sand pathway. The camp is accessible by a 1 – 1,5 hour motor boat ride across the lake. You can do Game Drives, Walks, Cruises and Fishing. Wild animals are able to come right into the lodge. Evening Drinks had around a fire and dinner under the stars.

Spurwing Island

Situated in the Matusadona National Park in the middle of one of Africa’s most spectacular lakes, overlooked by the majestic Matusadona Mountains, Spurwing Island is the perfect place for a tranquil getaway for the wildlife enthusiast, serious fisherman and holiday maker alike. Spurwing Island offers a range of different safaris, including scenic boat trips and game viewing on foot, by boat or Landrover. The park boasts a large population of wildlife and bird life, making it a photographers paradise!
Accommodation is in tents, chalets or cabins. There are eleven tents which are enclosed with two zip entrances – one onto a small verandah and the other into an en-suite bathroom which has a shower, toilet and washbasin all under thatch with stone floors. They are twin bedded with a dressing table, plug sockets (220V AC), pedestal fan and mosquito nets. Two of the tents form a “double tent” which can be used as a family tent – each side of the tent has its own en-suite facilities.
